Precautions for Application of Pearlescent Pigment in Plastics

Because pearlescent pigments are different from ordinary pigments, we should pay attention to the following conditions to obtain good pearlescent effect: the transparency of the resin is good; as far as possible with transparent pigments mixed with pearlescent pigments; as far as possible to reduce the process of pearlescent pigments damage; pearlescent pigments are fully dispersed; the amount of pearlescent pigments in plastics is generally 0.5-1%

Blow molding is the direct or indirect use of air pressure to make hollow plastic products, such as soda bottle pearl powder is particularly suitable for extrusion blow molding, because the extrusion process can ensure that the flake particles of pearl powder in the plastic surface directional uniform distribution, fully show the effect of pearl. The double extrusion method is a scheme which combines the covering property with the pearlescent effect. Outside a thin layer can reflect a strong sense of pearl, inside the opaque layer can achieve the desired effect of covering.

After the plastic is mixed, it is heated and melted and extruded from the molding mold like squeezing toothpaste. Color masterbatch/plastics and pearlescent powder are usually used to color plastic melts. In order to achieve better pearlescent effect, it is necessary to set the parameters of the equipment to ensure that the mixing strength of the equipment does not destroy the structure of pearlescent powder, and can achieve good pearlescent effect. In the process of stirring, extrusion, filtration and so on, once the shear force is too large, it will destroy the pearlite effect of pearlite powder. The effect of pearlescent powder is better when the distribution is even, so the design of equipment and parameter setting should be accurate.

 Injection molding

Injection molding, in the process of melting plastic will guide the flow of pearl powder particles. Under the condition of good control of technology and equipment, we can produce very beautiful and uniform pearlescent effect, which will not lead to the appearance of pearlescent powder strip or uneven distribution at the weld of the equipment. Another factor affecting the pearlescent effect is the position of the injection mouth. Round, by the middle, edge corner of the less plastic products made out of the pearl effect is better. If not, we recommend the use of crystal drill series, low addition, the effect is very flash, and can reduce the negative effect caused by uneven pearl powder.
